Norwegian Information Security laboratory

The information security group at GUC is the Norwegian Information Security laboratory - NISlab. NISlab is part of the Faculty for Computer Science and Media Technology. The group conducts international competitive research in several areas of information security, supervises Ph.D. research projects in this field and teaches courses in information security at the master and bachelor level.

PhD Student Selected for Best Paper Award
Mark Seeger, one of our PhD students, received the Best Paper Award for his publication "The Cost of Observation for Intrusion Detection: Performance Impact of Concurrent Host Observation". This work was submitted to the Information Security South Africa (ISSA), which took place in August 2010, and is available on IEEE Xplore.

NISlab wins Oppland's Research and Development Prize 2010
Norwegian Information Security Laboratory (NISLab) at Gjøvik University College was awarded Oppland's Research and Development prize under the Mjøs conference on Friday 25/6/2010. "This is absolutely fantastic, and a feather in the cap for the researchers in the laboratory," said the head of the laboratory, Patrick Bours.

PhD Trial Presentation: June 24th 2010, 10.00-11.00, K109
NISlab has had several PhD students who have defended their thesis successfully. Soon Kirsi Helkala will join this group. She will defend her thesis in August and because of that she will give a trial presentation on 24/6 @10.00 in K109. Everybody is cordially invited to join her presentation. The title of her thesis and of the presentation is “Authentication in Health Services”. There will be room for questions after the presentation.

NISlab partner in EU-project "BEST"
The Biometrics European STakeholders (BEST) Network project was started in December 2009 with the participation of NISlab. It is a European Commission ICT Policy Support Programme centred on a European Thematic Network on Trusted information infrastructures and biometric technologies.
